Best Homemade Crunchies (!!)

My favorite chocolate “candy ” is by far Crunchie, which is chocolate with a honeycomb center. But the problem is, where I live Crunchie is not easy to find. So I was browsing Instagram (PS. you can follow me if you like, it’s at the bottom of the page;) and I found a video on how to make Crunchies at home. So I was like, yeah right. But I decided to try the recipe and guess what, they taste like THE real deal. I meaaannnnnn, they are also superrr easy to make!

~Let’s Bake~

TIME: 30-40 min       SERVINGS: 10-20 (depends on preferred size)        DIFFICULTY: EASY         GLUTENFREE

You will need:

  • 200g sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of syrup
  • 2 tablespoons of  honey
  • 2 tablespoons of  baking soda
  • 200-300g chocolate
  • sunflower oil (if you want to thin the chocolate out.)

(You will also need a baking thermometer…)

Let’s do this: 

First combine sugar, syrup, and honey in a pan over medium heat. Put a baking thermometer in the pan and heat until it reaches 140 C°, keep stirring and don’t let it burn(!).

When your mixture reaches 140 C°, add the baking soda and in a few seconds you will see that all the ingredients grow and make a fluffy mixture, you then have to be quick and transfer to a 25cm*37cm baking tin. Flatten the mixture out and put it in the fridge for 30 mins, or until it is firm to the touch.

NB: when transferring the mixture to the pan, be careful, it is veryyy hot. 

When the Crunchies are firm, it’s time to break them up into your preferred size and melt your chocolate. Dip each piece of the Crunchie into the melted chocolate, then lay them out on a baking paper to set in the fridge.

Now you are ready to enjoy your AMAZING, DELICIOUS and INSTAGRAM-ABLE Crunchies from scratch!
